The Search for the Illegitimate Love Child of Cookie and Pie

There is only one place in New York City where I can find the magnificence that is the Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pie. Part cookie, part cream pie, all heaven, Debbie and her Gooey White Center For Sumptuous Studies never fails me. But you know who does? The grocery stores, delis and drug stores that fail to stock them. The only vendor I've come across in New York City is a random newsstand on 23rd between 5th and 6th. Whenever I happen to be passing by I go in and wipe out their supply and stockpile them in my pantry so that I can ensure a steady source of snack pie provisions until the next time I find myself on 23rd Street. Today I bought seven of them, inspiring the guy behind the counter to remark, “Wow. Are those all for you?”

“It’s not like I’m going to eat them all at the same time!” I snapped.

I don’t need your judgment.

OK, thank you. The three years I lived in NYC, I could NEVER find them! Even on the occasional Target trip in CT, VT, etc., I never found them either! I thought my Yankee friends thought I was crazy because Little Debbie? They didn't know who she was!

I'm so glad I'm not alone in this. Meanwhile you can't turn a corner without running into one of those hideous Zebra Cakes.

C-Town carries them. I live in Corona, Queens, and I see them all over the place!

thank goodness they are quite easy to find here, outside Boston, because they are a treat....but seriously, your post failed to keep my attention after "Debbie and her Gooey White Center."

I'm kind of in the same boat as BCA.

Thanks to a filthy mind/rotten soul combo born of a crippling addiction to porn, the phrase "cream pie" is now forever ruined for me.

Oh, you poor thing. Here in the flyover state of Oklahoma, I can't go in a grocery or convenience store *without* seeing these, and the box is only like $1.19 each.
You need to email me your addy and I will most happily send you some. :)

Wait -- did you just disparage Zebra Cakes?

What is the abundance of the Star Crunch in NYC?

I AM taking a stand against Zebra Cakes. Don't even get me started on the Snowballs. You know what else is really hard to get in New York delis, come to think of it? Sour Cream & Onion potato chips, which is a shame because they really are the superior potato chip.

Ooh, I do like the Star Crunch, too. But Zebra Cakes have always been Little Debbie's Redheaded Stepchild in my opinion.

Have you ever had the double decker oatmeal cream pies? Because ZOMG, they're heaven on Earth times two. (And I promise, I so am not a fat girl, ha!)
